This position will support the Residential, Commercial and Special Project Teams by verifying and documenting the local permits required in accordance with the HVAC Industry (i.e. construction permits and local zoning/special use permits). This position will also be responsible for assembling permit applications for all HVAC related work and manage them through the permitting process to final acquisition.
The Permitting Specialist role is designed to assist with day-to-day company operations related to the Residential, Commercial, and Special Project departments. This position involves supporting each team in administrative duties, organizing, tracking, applying for and obtaining permits from governing agencies for construction installation and engineering design projects. This role also involves considerable internal coordination amongst various teams.
Coordinate permit requests and scheduling with various governmental agencies acting as a liaison for Millian Aire.
Meet with internal teams and/or government agencies for project updates and assists with any issues.
Coordinate with Project Managers regarding construction schedules and permit requirements.
Manage permit expirations and renewals and coordinate with both customers and employees.
Organize and track all permits.
Coordination insurance certificates for particular projects.
File proper paperwork required to obtain Permits.
Manage Utility Company rebate program.
Manage Referral Gift Card program.
Data Entry in Excel Spread Sheets.
Some local business Travel required.
Associate degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Or equivalent work-related experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
5+ years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel & Word).
Ability to Multi-task.
Must be proactive and have the ability to work independently.
Must be able to maintain a high level of accuracy and pay close attention to detail.
Should have clean driving record.
Have some understanding of working with government entities within a municipality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications: • Job experience in evaluating local zoning ordinances, land development codes and building permit requirements in Florida. • Experience (1-2 years) in gaining zoning and construction permits in Florida. Preferred Qualifications • Proficient in gaining site development construction permits in Florida. • Experience working for an HVAC contractor. • Professional Engineer, Planner, Landscape Architect. Plumber, Electrician, General Contractor, Law Firm and or bank are all good fits.
